First Butterfly

So I decided to change my profile picture on my Facebook page, and didn't expect such a lot of attention. But here is the butterfly pattern.

Please note that the yardage on the pattern is an approximate measurement based on my own tatting. If you discover a mistake in the pattern, do let me know.

If you like the pattern, please drop a line in the comment section. It will be really kind of you NOT to share the pattern on your social media, but to direct them to this blog page. Thank you!

Here is the  First Butterfly PDF version.  Be thankful as you tat the butterfly!

A Basket Case!

This is a project I wanted to embark on a few years ago. I just wanted to tat a little basket. Having experimented with one a few years ago, I realized that any 5 sided motif that can be joined will give you a 5 sided basket. So I tweaked a snowflake design that I did last year to make it 5 sided.

The basket is not starched, if anyone is wondering. It just stands up after a good wetting and drying.  It's really for display, since its not strong enough to hold anything.

But the cheerfulness of the thread and the beauty of tatting makes this really a joy to behold!

Double Joy Choker

Sometimes designing tatting is a trial and error. Its in your head, but you cannot get the count right. You try and try again. 7 times and more but just not quite right. Its an easy pattern but yet, the count has to be perfect, the beads has to complement the design and not overshadow the tatting, it has to sit nice on the neck and finally, I got it!

Now what am I going to do with the rest?

Well, what do you all think of the final product?

I am very thankful. To all my test tatters, my facebook encouragers, my friends, and my housemate, I cannot do it without you all.

Rose Heart Pattern Revised

Here is a heart pattern that I thought I share with my followers. Truly honored that I have a few followers.

If you like the pattern, please drop a line in the comment section. It will be really kind of you NOT to share the pattern on your social media, but to direct them to this blog page. Thank you! Here is the  Rose Heart Revised Pattern PDF version.  Happy tatting!

Valentine's Day Card

This is the first time I am making a Valentine's Day Card with my tatting. But I didn't want the heart to be pasted on the card but that it can be taken out and used as a bookmark. So this is the result.
The pretty polka dotted card was carefully pasted on the other side of the card to hide the small slit I made to put the ribbon through.
Time taken to plan: Maybe 30 minutes.
Time to execute: less than 5 minutes.
Time to tat the heart: 30 minutes.
Time to find someone to give the card to: Have not started yet!

The pattern for the heart will be shared on the another post.

Portrait Neckpiece

This is one piece of tatting that always draws the eyes of many admirers of tatting. The origin of this piece is from an old tatting book, and was meant to be a collar. A very creative tatter, sadly, I do not know the name of the person made it into a neckpiece. She shared the pattern on craftsy.com (now defunct) and I downloaded it and did some investigation.

I changed the pattern to fit the neck better. Customers have been pleased with this one. Of course, this is not my pattern at all. I have shared this pattern with a few tatters, and they enjoyed tatting this piece. The Joy and Beauty of Tatting in this elaborate piece!
